Individual Acupuncture
What is constitutional (traditional) acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the body to influence and regulate the flow of qi 氣. Simply put, the intention is set on returning all aspects of the patient to a natural and appropriate energetic balance.
Acupuncture approaches health and healing from a traditional perspective. With a focus on more than “fixing the symptoms”, acupuncture treatment pursues the more important, and usually least visible, aspects of being in a comprehensive effort to acknowledge all aspects of the whole person. The practice of acupuncture does not treat isolated symptoms. Rather, the symptoms are used as teachers that remind us of our divergence from balance. Acupuncture is based on the fact that the body is wise and symptoms are concrete manifestations of imbalance. The acupuncturist will take into account all of the unique phenomena that comprises the individual and then engages the whole patient toward balance.
As a result of effective treatment, the patient will come to recognize, acknowledge and, with time, remedy their symptoms on their own. By treating the root cause of illness, not only will symptoms resolve, but an experience of greater vitality, a peaceful sense of well-being and an improved ability to stave off illness commonly occurs. Symptoms, both simple and complex, are a unique experience for each person. The actions needed for recovering wellness are as unique as the individual.
